Inspired by a skillful architect and craftsman from Greek mythology, the Daedalus ring was carved from wax remolded after stones were set and cast in metal via lost wax process.

According to legend, Daedalus crafted wings made of feathers and beeswax for him and his son Icarus so that they may escape imprisonment from the island of Crete. Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too high, as the sun would melt the wax holding the wings together. Icarus ignored his father’s warning, and paid for the mistake with his life. 

Each side of the ring reveals a cross as a symbolic reminder of the danger that comes when one overextends their limits, while the wings represent the courage to achieve one’s goals. Available as sterling silver, 18k gold over silver, and 18k white gold.

All BDB jewelry is made from either; 22-24kt Solid Gold, .999 silver, Sterling Silver, Argentium Silver, Platinum, Paladium, Vermeil (18kt Gold Plating) or 22kt Gold Plating. I use real natural gems or cubic zirconia (CZs). No synthetic material is used unless requested. I work primarily in NON-ferrous metals, but I am willing to manufacture in any metal as a custom order. TIPS

Plated jewelry of any kind should never be worn in the ocean. The reason is because the salt and sand remove the gold from the surface, essentially removing the plating. You can; however, wear it in the shower and most swimming pools.
