The Ankh Necklace in Sterling Silver, 18k Gold, or 18k White Gold
The Ankh, one of the most recognized symbols of Ancient Egypt. It is known as "the key of life" or "the key of the Nile", because the Nile River Valley was fertile enough to grow crops; not only for farming, but also sustaining trade routes for the people of Egypt.
The Ankh is a symbol made up of two other symbols. The top loop and arms represent the female womb, while the lower half represents the male phallus. X and Y; Masculinity and Femininity, combined. The Ankh symbolizes procreation, the key of life. So prevalent is the ankh in Ancient Egypt that it is used as a graphic icon for the culture. The ankh was commonly seen carried by the Pharaohs and the Pantheon of Egyptian gods, depicted amongst various clay tablets, ruins, and other expressions of art.
Today, my Ankh Necklace pays homage to this culture. A simple design, a rich history.
